Senior manager – confidence issues

Claire, a senior manager, had recently had a change of director and came to coaching to re-energise her career and move herself onto a new level. She presented as a thoughtful, introverted person and was having difficulty communicating effectively with a more extrovert boss. We worked through the issues and acted out some of the more difficult areas. She realised that style differences could be embraced and used effectively, beginning to see them as positive. We helped her understand how she could be more effective in meetings by putting forward her views in a more structured way so that people would listen. Over time, her manner became more persuasive as she learnt and practised new skills around communication. She was better able to articulate her strengths and finally moved to a different role which played very well to these strengths and became happier and more confident as a result.
