FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who will I be working with from PCP?
All our coaches are highly experienced at the work we do, have different styles, backgrounds and approaches and a variety of areas of expertise. When you first contact us we will spend some time understanding your specific needs in order to ‘match’ you with the coach who we feel is the best fit for you. It is important that you feel the relationship is right and that you are able to build trust and rapport so we always appreciate your feedback. |
How does self-assessment work?
Sometimes we use a selection of psychometric tools and bespoke questionnaires to give you a new perspective on your personality type, style of working and relationships with other people, as well as personal motivations and drivers. All this will help you gain a greater level of self awareness and therefore be clearer about the strengths you will be offering to an organisation. |
What are psychometric assessments?
A series of questions scientifically designed to highlight particular aspects of personality. Psychometrics may be used, with your agreement, to help you gain more insight into your personality, motivations and style. The results can help you redefine your career goals and aspirations with a clearer understanding of your own preferences. Assessments will be carried out in complete confidence and in line with professional ethical standards. |
Is what we talk about confidential?
Yes. The whole purpose of our programmes is to allow you to explore your options and skills in a confidential setting. The conversations with your coach are kept strictly confidential. We only ever make your firm aware of how often you are meeting us and give a very general overview of progress. |
What if I decide I want a complete change?
All our coaches have worked with people who have moved into other professions (or even made a complete lifestyle change) and therefore can help with this transition process. We have extensive experience of the options that professionals frequently pursue, and can direct you to information sources about alternative careers. Most importantly we help you understand IF and WHY you might wish to make the move, ensure you have researched adequately and done the ‘reality checking’ before making any new career move. |
Are you a recruitment agency as well?
We are not a recruitment agency and have no interest in you moving to any particular job. We have no agenda other than you achieving the best outcome for you. However, we do equip you with the skills and insight to understand your market value and career goals and help point you in the right direction. We have an in-depth knowledge of the professional services world and can offer impartial advice about specific firms and which recruitment agencies are likely to be the most suitable for you. Marketing yourself effectively is crucial and we ensure you are well prepared before presenting yourself to a potential employer or an agent or headhunter. We can coach you in how to get most value from recruiters and how to manage the relationships in the most effective way. |
How do I know that coming to you will help me?
We have been successful in working with many people from legal practices and other professional services backgrounds and, with our knowledge and experience, can offer immediate empathy and understanding of your environment and career. This makes us well placed to offer apposite and sensitive support and advice in a wide range of career-related situations. We believe in measurable success that can be seen and evidenced. We therefore work hard at keeping to objectives to ensure you gain maximum benefit from our programmes. The feedback we receive is that we make a significant difference to the career planning and transition process. |
